The Chop-O-Matic makes easy work of the boring task of chopping and dicing food and the machine was a huge hit across American decades ago. In the video demonstration, Ron Popeil’s focus is on the machine and you hardly take notice of the man behind the machine at first-placing the vegetables in. He swiftly moves on from one vegetable to the next, explaining simply and clearly how fast and easy it is to use the Chop-O-Matic. The camera pulls back now and then to showcase the handsome and smooth-talking young man. Popeil explains that even the children in the family would love to help chop vegetables as well, and goes on to chopping ice with the machine, telling the men watching that the Chop-O-Matic is ideal for crushing ice for mixed drinks. When it is time to pitch the price, he says that the Chop-O-Matic will retail for $5.98 but if the audience acts quickly, they can get it for just $3.98.

Today pitchman Vince Offer has videos on the internet demonstrating and trying to sell a product called Slap-Chop. This video is very reminiscent of the original Chop-O-Matic invented and pitched by Ron Popeli and the name also reminds the viewer of the original chopping machine that because famous decades ago. Offer goes on with the fast-paced demonstration to end with presenting the price. He says the Slap-Chop costs just $19.95 but goes on quickly to tell the viewers that if they call the toll free number within twenty minutes, they will receive a grater for free. Offer is handsome as well and has ‘the gift of gab’.

This comparison is proof of the huge success that Ron Popeil was. There never was and probably never will be again, another more successful inventor and pitchman than Ron Popeil.
